Dog and Cat Licenses
The licensing of all dogs and cats over the age of six months in the Township is required by state law and Township ordinance, respectively. You must license your animal in the town that the animal lives in at least 6 months of the year.
Licenses must be renewed each year by January 31st.
Proof of a rabies vaccination, which must be valid through November 1st of the current year per N.J.S.A 8:23A-4.1, and spaying/neutering (if applicable) is required to license your animal in the Tax Office. Check local newspapers or internet search for free NJ area rabies clinics or check with area Tractor Supply, Petco, PetSmart and even drug stores for rabies vaccination days.
If your anumal is no longer with you, or you move, please notify us by calling, emailing or mailing a note so that we can update our records.
Annual Licensing Fees if paid by January 31st
Neutered Dog $10.00 per animal
Non-neutered Dog $13.00 per animal
Neutered Cat $8.50 per animal
Non-neutered Cat $11.50 per animal
LATE FEE after January 31
$4.00 for the month of February and then $3.00 a month from March through December.

If your dog or cat has a current license, a courtesy reminder card will be mailed at the end of December.
The Washington Township Rabies Clinic will be held in January at the Department of Public Works, 54 Rock Road, Long Valley, New Jersey. Please check the Township Web Calendar for details as the clinic date draws near.
License Application Form
For NEW ANIMALS ONLY please complete the application, one for EACH NEW animal you need to license. The completed application(s) along with the current rabies information, Spay/Neuter certificate and paymeny by check or cash only, can be brought to the office during normal business hours, left in the drop box next to our front door or mailed to 43 Schooley's Mountain Rd, Long Valley. If you choose to mail in your application please include a self addressed stamped envelope to expedite the application.
